Welcome to Her Own Magnificat!

This is the official post signposting a new beginning on this blog. Previously known as Ephphtha Heart, I opted to change the name of the blog to Her Own Magnificat with all new logos and header.

I felt like Ephphatha Heart as a name had served its purpose and truly 2018 was a year where my own heart was opened and poured into by everything the year had to offer me. Also, people had trouble pronouncing it so it wasn’t practical.  But now it is 2019, I wanted a name that goes with the season I’m in right now. Although I must mention this does not mean that I’ll be changing the name anytime soon! lol.

Let me tell you what inspired the new name. It all comes from the Lord’s mother, Mary. In context, Mary is pregnant with Jesus and goes to visit her cousin Elizabeth who is also pregnant but with John the Baptist. Elizabeth’s baby responds to Mary’s presence by leaping in his mum’s tummy. Elizabeth tells Mary that she is blessed. Mary then responds with a song and this is presented in Luke 1:46-55 and in some Bibles, this section is titled The Magnificat: Mary’s Song of Praise (NLT) or Mary’s song (NIV).

In it, she says:

46 And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
47     and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49     for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
    holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
    from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
    remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

This really resonated with my spirit. I really felt like from 2019, I’ll be singing my own song(s) of praise. I want my life to be a beautiful melody that praises God and enthrals those who get to hear a single note played. So thus I renamed this blog, Her Own Magnificat. Because from this year onwards, it is my song that will be played for all to hear!

I’ll try to post more frequently on here but it is hard as I am studying and training full time! But I’ll be back to bring some more content for you guys!

Let your life be a melody too,

Satta x
